Shocked to learn that the General Assembly cost $23 per resident in 2005 compared to $10.72 in California, $8.20 in New York and a bargain $3.69 in Ohio, state Rep. Glen Grell of Mechanicsburg wants to slice the legislature's budget by 8 percent.
Grell, a member of the Speaker's Commission on Legislative Reform, plans to propose cutting the General Assembly's budget to $290 million from $316 million, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
